Ceramica tra le Righe 2015

Fourth edition of “Ceramica tra le righe” is a big success with more than 200 students at Palazzina della Casiglia

The fourth edition of “Ceramica tra le righe”, an annual meeting promoting discussion and dialogue between ceramic companies and schools in the ceramic district, was held this afternoon at Confindustria Ceramica’s headquarters in the Palazzina Ducale della Casiglia in Sassuolo. More than 200 students attending 9 schools in Sassuolo and elsewhere in the Province of Modena met with representatives of the ceramic industry to present projects on the theme of sustainability in the ceramic industry conducted by the schools in cooperation with Confindustria Ceramica.

Following the introductory remarks by Vittorio Borelli, Chairman of Confindustria Ceramica, and Maria Chiara Bignozzi, newly appointed director of Centro Ceramico di Bologna, Elisa Rambaldi and Arturo Salomoni from Centro Ceramico di Bologna took the floor to discuss the importance of developing new solutions for reducing the environmental impact of industrial processes and to explain how to introduce to the market a new product or a new production or organisational solution. These are all innovations that bring economic and environmental advantages, they explained. Elisa Tonelli, Quality and Environmental Manager at Coem SpA and coordinator of the Confindustria Ceramica working group on Sustainability, focused her technical talk on the importance of company environmental certifications and the procedures that need to be followed to attain them.

Next, it was the turn of the students themselves to speak. The schools in Sassuolo presenting projects were Liceo “Formiggini” with “Ecologia Industriale sulla Sostenibilitą del Processo Produttivo Ceramico” (“Industrial Ecology on Sustainability in the Ceramic Production Process”), IPSIA “Don Magnani” with “Alimentare il Mondo di Nuova Energia” (“Feeding the World with New Energy”) and the “A. Baggi” Technical Institute with two projects entitled “Comenius” and “Jugenpries”. IIS “Selmi” of Modena presented a project entitled “Green Power Tile” (winner of the “La Tua Idea di Impresa” Innovation Award 2014) and a project on energy saving in the school.

The afternoon devoted to sustainability was concluded by Morena Sartori, director of the FITSTIC Foundation of Faenza, and Viola Emaldi, coordinator of the Tonito Emiliani course, who presented the post-diploma training course for “Advanced technician of design, development and sustainability of industrial ceramic products”.

The students were also introduced to the industrial tourism project “Ceramicland” consisting of organised tours exploring the origins of Italian ceramic tile production. The tour includes visits to museums and company showrooms which preserve and narrate the history of the most important ceramic tile manufacturing area.
