FonceR

In order to assure workers an income to supplement their state retirement pension, Confindustria Ceramica and the trade unions have begun promoting a complementary sector pension scheme. One of the first initiatives of its kind in Italy, it led to the creation in 1997 of FonceR (Complementary capitalisation pension fund for employees in the ceramic tile and refractory materials industry), which became operational in 2001.

This scheme clearly fulfils an important and deeply-felt need and as a result has expanded constantly. By the end of 2002, about 20% of workers in the represented sectors had registered with the scheme, totalling an administered capital of more than 20 million euro.
