Refractories Sector Safety Manual

Drafted by a Working Group consisting of company experts coordinated by Confindustria Ceramica, the Refractories Sector Safety Manual will become the principal reference resource

The Safety Manual for the refractory materials sector, drafted by a Working Group consisting of company experts coordinated by Confindustria Ceramica, was published and presented to the Refractories Group last November. Based on the methodological framework adopted for the analogous 2012 document produced for the ceramic industry, it contains a general section complete with the new chapter 1.9 devoted to “Managing emergencies”, including earthquakes and floods.
The special section devoted to the production of refractories describes the workplace and characteristics of the main departments making up the technological and production cycle in the refractories materials industry. For each department, practical data sheets are provided for the machinery that may be present.
This Manual represents an important achievement in terms of safety management in the refractories industry. Given the validity and objectivity of its contents, it is to be hoped that it will be endorsed by the trade unions and the supervisory authorities.
The Refractories Sector Safety Manual will become the principal reference resource for worker safety training and will provide valuable assistance in drafting the Risk Assessment Document.
