The event is an opportunity for institutional dialogue at the highest level between the national and European institutions and representatives of the Italian economy.

In particular, Confindustria Ceramica Chairman Vittorio Borelli will discuss the energy and environment situation in the Italian ceramic industry with a comment on the current regulatory aspects and Italian companies’ expectations regarding developments in legislation.

“Our sector has a firm belief in the need for action at all levels to promote sustainability, and for this purpose our companies have for years been investing 5% of their annual turnovers,” he said. “Although necessary, regulatory policies must aim to ensure the maximum simplification of red tape, which continues to be a heavy burden for companies, rather than undermining their international competitiveness.”

“This is the first initiative carried out by Globe Italia, which consists of members of the Chamber and Senate environment committees representing all political groups and is affiliated to the Globe International network present in more than eighty countries,” explained Modenese senator Stefano Vaccari, Vice Chairman of Globe. “It is very important to take positive action against climate change through the necessary mitigation policies, namely reducing emissions and adaptation. Events currently in the news give us a dramatic reminder of this. Promising signs have emerged from Europe and the G20 suggesting that a binding global agreement to reduce emissions may be reached at the UN summit to be held in Paris in 2015.”
