The third edition of “Ceramica tra le righe”, an annual event promoting discussion and dialogue between ceramic companies and schools located in the Sassuolo ceramic cluster, was held on Monday 12 May at the Palazzina Ducale di Casiglia in Sassuolo. More than 300 students from 12 schools in Modena and its province met representatives of the ceramic industry and presented projects carried out as extracurricular activities during the school year.
“These highly varied and original projects explored different aspects of the ceramic industry, from logistics to design and from chemistry to the environment,” observed Vittorio Borelli, Chairman of Confindustria Ceramica.
The projects were organised by the schools in cooperation with Confindustria Ceramica, which invests heavily in these initiatives devoted to corporate social responsibility.
“Interaction between schools and the world of business covers the entire ceramic production chain, which reflects the fact that a company’s success is always dependent on the quality of human resources,” added Daniele Bandiera from Federchimica-Ceramicolor, the ceramic colour and glaze manufacturers’ association.
The original business ideas developed by students were presented during the first part of the morning. The project selected as winner of the national Innovation Award 2014 was “Green Power Tiles” by students attending the Istituto Selmi of Modena, consisting of a tile capable of transforming the kinetic energy of foot traffic into electrical power.
“All the students who took part in the national competition “Latuaideadimpresa” demonstrated creativity and maturity, qualities that are crucial for the future of the ceramic industry,” concluded Anna Zannoni, Chair of Confindustria Ceramica’s Training Commission.
