Campogalliano - Sassuolo link road

The call for tenders for work on the link road has been published in the Gazzetta Ufficiale. Franco Manfredini: “A result of historic importance for the Italian ceramic industry

12th January 2012

7th December 2010 - “I am pleased to note that the call for tenders for work on the Campogalliano-Sassuolo link road has been published in the Gazzetta Ufficiale (Italian Official Journal). This marks an important step towards the construction of a motorway that will further improve the network of infrastructures serving the ceramic district.
“This is a particularly significant project because, in addition to the link road itself joining Sassuolo to the national motorway network, it will also include work on the normal road system with a view to freeing up some particularly congested areas, such as that around the town of Rubiera, and providing a more efficient and effective link between the road system and the railway freight yards of Baggiovara and Dinazzano.
“These infrastructures will increase the competitiveness of our local area and our businesses. We hope that construction will commence rapidly during the next few months so that the link road and the related works can be completed within the shortest possible time.”

“Today’s decision (22nd July 2010) by the CIPE (Interministerial Committee for Economic Planning) approving construction of the 17-kilometre Campogalliano-Sassuolo link road connecting the A1 motorway with the ceramic industry’s capital Sassuolo through project financing is an event of historic importance for the Italian ceramic industry.
“Alongside its well-known industrial activities, Sassuolo has gradually also taken on a strategic role as a logistic platform serving the ceramic industry. Just like the other road and rail infrastructures, the motorway link road is of vital importance. We now expect the call for tenders to be published at the earliest opportunity with a view to commencing construction work.
“This result owes much to the unflagging efforts made by past presidents of Confindustria Ceramica who have lobbied strongly for this motorway. I wish to thank them, as well as the Minister for Infrastructures Altero Matteoli, the President of Regione Emilia Romagna Vasco Errani, the presidents of the provinces of Modena and Reggio Emilia and the various mayors of Sassuolo who have held office over the years.”
