THE 5% RULE

The Italian ceramic tile industry has always been strongly focused on technology and innovation, as evidenced by the development of single fired tile, porcelain tile and, most recently, thin large-format sheets. However, the industry’s most impressive achievement is that – even in the disastrous year 2009 – it has continued to invest 5% of its turnover in innovation and new technologies, corresponding to figures of more than 200 million euro per year. This represents a powerful and determined response to the crisis in the real-estate sector.
